Prior to the evening of July 21st, 2028, Los Angeles was already the center of global attention, as the Olympics opening ceremony had just begun. However, what the vast majority of the world didn’t know was that a sequence of events was already in motion bringing the monster, Gojira, on a collision course with the city.

The capsizing of the cargo ship, Lottie Cooper, in addition to YOKAI's predictive models prompt Admiral Joesph Bennell to deploys CSG-3 to the California coast and urge for the evacuation of Los Angeles.

At roughly 19:24:00 a Tsunami strikes Santa Monica as Gojira makes landfall.

Over the course of the following hour, unorganized attempts by the National Guard fail to stop the DaiKaiju as panic engulfs the city.

At roughly 20:00:00 Federal Armed Forces are permitted to engage the creature.

20:32:00 The situation becomes dire when Gojira's "Atomic Breath" is used on the army, heavily damaging Westwood. In response, the federal government declares large swaths of Western Los Angeles as lost, barring entry to both emergency and military personal. Anyone still west of Century City is given a 10-minute warning before CSG-3 starts heavy bombardment. ​

20:35:00 The "Spoke" evacuation method is introduced, where civilians are directed to go to centralized areas and board military commandeered public transit. Easing the jammed highways and allowing for medical triage operations, the Spoke method is considered the single success of the Los Angeles Disaster and is still used to this day.

Chuai oil drilling station suffers a catastrophic failure and collapses into the ocean. YOKAI is altered to this incident and chief Gojira specialist Yvonne Hawkins is sent in.

Over the course of the day, the American Coast Guard report 4 missing vessels.

Worried that these accidents could be Gojira's doing, YOKAI simulates a possible course of the Daikaiju with frightening results. Gojira is on a collision course with Southern California.

21, July 2028

YOKAI attempts to explain the situation to federal and municipal authorities but is rebuked, potentially due to a mix of denial, and concern for the Olympic games.

It is deduced by Dr. Hawkins that Gojira is en route to the El Monte Nuclear Power Station. The National Nuclear Regulatory Commission is contacted and attempts to initiate an Emergency Shutdown.

​​Even with the Plant offline, Gojira continues to move inland. As it would take only hours for him to reach the plant, and over a month to remove all the fuel rods, a national emergency is declared in the US and Mexico at 20:22:00.
​

As the full extent of Gojira's natural radioactivity becomes more clear, people who had narrowly avoided his landfall start to succumb to Radiation Poisoning.

21:00:00 Dr. Hawkins, along with Bio-Chemist Dr. Serizawa and Admiral Bennell travel to El Monte. Over the next hour they learn the truth, the plant, while active, primarily served as a cover-up for research on reviving, and harnessing the energy of a dormant Daikaiju. It is speculated that if the US had not withdrawn from YOKAI in 2017, the Americans would have known this creature to be of the Hedorah species, a natural enemy to Gojira.

22:13:00 Pressured by Dr. Hawkins, the DoE initiate Wildfire Protocoles and kills Hedorah, hoping that will be enough to end Gojira's rampage.

Gojira continues eastward prompting a new defensive line at the Miracle Mile.

22:30:00 The airforce, while unable to substantially injure Gojira, slowly push him back west.

Gojira's presence in an evacuated zone, coupled with a low-pressure system forming over the ocean, convince the Joint Chiefs of staff, along with President Buttigieg to initiate operation 'Samson' with a one-hour warning.

22, July 2028

00:15:54 a 300 kt Nuclear bomb explodes over Culver City.

Gojira, badly burned, heals in a matter of minutes, and continues east. On track to breach the El Monte Reactor in 16 hours, the complete evacuation of Southern California commences.

At some in the early hours, Dr. Serizawa reveals to Dr. Hawkins exactly what his role is. A decade prior, in attempts to convert excess CO2 into Hydrogen, he inadvertently figured out how to do the reverse, developing an "Oxygen Destroyer" garnering the military's attention. ​

Hawkins, believing Gojira to be essential in keeping the ecosystem in check, and Serizawa, horrified at the prospects of becoming another Oppenheimer, convince Bennell to keep the device secret for the time being.

05:58:00 Army command, able to hold Gojira back just long enough to get the last civilians to safety, is obliterated by Gojira's Atomic Breath in DTLA. The display convinces Dr. Serizawa to reveal the location of his Oxygen Destroyer.

Using highly radioactive materials, alongside Hedorah's decapitated head, Gojira is lured towards Silver Lake while the Navy prepares a bunker with an Oxygen supply. ​

9:11:22 Dr. Serizawa is lowered into Silver Lake with his device as Gojira approaches. The plan is for him to start the timer and be reeled out of the lake in time for him to reach cover.

9:11:50 Dr. Serizawa cuts the line to pull him out of the lake. Dr. Hawkins later stated that from the minute Serizawa agreed to allow for his device to be used, she knew he was going to die with it.

9:12:15 The device is detonated, and Silver Lake experiences something akin to a Limnic Eruption, the water exploding upward and unleashing a toxic cloud of CO2, laced with Hedorah's radiation. Heavier than air, the cloud sticks close to the ground, eventually covering an area of close to 1,500 square Km, or nearly half a Rhode Island.
On 13, August 2028 the Los Angeles Exclusion Zone was officially ratified by Congress, dividing the zone up into 12 different areas based on recorded radiation levels. Starting on December 22nd, 2028, a joint operation was launched between the US Government and YOKAI, moving Gojira from Area A, to a then undisclosed location, in the vicinity of Okinawa.
As of today, restrictions lifted for Areas M and Λ on 1, Janurary 2029, and 13, August 2035 respectively.
Restrictions for Area A, encompassing what was once Silver Lake, are expected to lift on 13, August, 22028.
